A problem tree analysis starts with the idea of having an objective. This core objective will be at the center of the template
Resources will be listed below. These can be made up of anything that would be used to support the core objective
Outcomes to consider will be listed above. Certain outcomes will be more closely related to the core objective, while others may be further away in time from the solution.
It is important to remember that outcomes will need to utilize resources in order to get us closer to the core objective
If you can see an outcome that you want but can't see a resource that's going to provide it, you'll probably need to reconsider how you'll get to that outcome

List outcomes in the green section above. For example, what happens when you achieve your goal? What are further results that will occur? Each outcome may branch out multiple times.
Identify resources by writing solutions or methods to tackle your core objective in the red section below. These may branch into others as well. Now, you’re left with ways to meet your objective with the results you might expect.
